Dispute Experian

by Justin Hutto

To dispute Experian credit bureau a dispute letter must be sent. When the bureau receives your letter they will investigate the dispute.

The first step though is to get a copy of your credit report. You can get a free credit report once a year from each credit bureau. I suggest you go to annual credit report, they will provide you with your free copy.

When you have your credit report you must identify what listings are inaccurate or incorrect. These will be the listings that you dispute.

You can dispute these listings by writing a dispute letter and then mailing it to Experian credit bureau. When they receive your dispute letter they will decide if it is valid or invalid.

If they find your letter invalid you will receive a letter from them asking for more details about the dispute. You should respond accordingly and provide them with the information.

If your dispute is valid then an investigation will be held into the mark. In an investigation the bureaus will contact the business that made the negative mark on your report and ask them to verify the debt, the dates and the balance.

Frequently an investigation will result in the removal of a bad credit item. This happens because many businesses are not going to spend the time or money verifying a disputed debt.

A credit repair service can also be hired to remove negative credit from your report. With this option you only need to identify the marks you wish to dispute and the service will do the rest.

In case an item is verified then a credit repair service can be very helpful because they have advanced dispute techniques. These include; creditor direct intervention, escalated dispute information requests, and debt validation.

I suggest do it yourself credit repair if you have only minor damage on your report, however if you have multiple marks I suggest a credit repair service. I also suggest a service if you are having trouble submitting a valid dispute or you have had a mark verified that should be removed.

You are going to need to dispute a bad credit item with each credit bureau. This means you will have to send a separate letter disputing the same item with each bureau.

In sum you can dispute Experian and have them remove negative credit from your credit report. You must either hire a service or dispute the listings yourself.

Dispute Equifax

by Justin Hutto

To dispute a bad credit item on your Equifax credit report you must send a dispute letter. In your letter you must include the disputed item and why it is incorrect.

This letter can be created by you or you can hire a credit repair service to do it on your behalf. If you choose to do it yourself realize you have to dispute the item with each credit bureau.

This means if you have a charge off on your Equifax credit report then you will have to send a dispute letter to Equifax. In addition if that charge off is on your Experian and Transunion credit report you will have to send a dispute letter to them also.

Reasons for a dispute include; information is wrong, item out of date, account paid in full, not my account and others. The Fair Credit Reporting Act that was passed by congress gives you the right to dispute any listing on your credit that you feel is inaccurate.

In addition the act says the bureaus must remove an item if it is not verified by the creator. This act is what the dispute process is based upon.

Upon receipt of your dispute letter the bureaus will investigate. During the investigation they will ask the creator of the listing to verify the account, the dates on the account, and the account balance.

If the mark can not be verified then it is removed from your credit report. Often an investigation results in the removal of bad credit. This is a result of many businesses being unwilling to spend the time and money verifying disputed debts.

However before the bureau will investigate your dispute they must say it is valid. There is no clear cut definition of what a valid dispute is.

Many claim that the bureaus are just avoiding having to hold an investigation so they will deem your dispute invalid and respond with a letter requesting more information about the dispute. It is widely speculated that this is nothing more than a stall tactic used by the bureaus.

It only costs the bureaus money to conduct an investigation. There is no revenue in it for the bureaus, their customers are businesses.

I suggest a credit repair service if you have multiple listings you wish to dispute. However you can repair your credit yourself if you have minor damage, be patient and persistent.

In sum you do not have to wait seven years for a bad credit item to be removed from your credit. You can dispute the listing and have it removed immediately.

by Dan Moskel

You can save hundreds of dollars a year on check cashing fees simply by using a direct deposit credit card. This is a prepaid card issued as a MasterCard or Visa.

To use direct deposit you must fill out a form and turn it into the payroll department of your employer. Then your paychecks will automatically be deposited into your account.

There will still be a paystub for you to keep for your records. You will still know how many hours you worked and how much you paid in taxes.

You can check your account balance and recent activity online. You will be able to use direct deposit for payroll checks, pension checks, tax returns, social security and more.

You can then use your prepaid credit card to make purchases. This card can be used over the phone and online.

You can use this card to make hotel reservations and rent a car. Cash can be accessed through ATM machines just like a check card.

You also will have access to a feature called bill pay. This is a free method where checks will be made and sent to pay bills. This will save you money because you will no longer need to buy money orders.

This card also offers free credit builder. This is a service that will make a record of the payments you make using bill pay and report that information to a credit reporting agency. This can be used to show future creditors your credit worthiness.

There is no chex systems verification or credit check. This card works just like a checking account.

You will never have to pay overdraft fees, over the limit fees or interest charges with this card. Some cards even offer free activation for enrolling in direct deposit.

If you are in chex systems or just have bad credit, we do suggest a direct deposit debit card. It gives you all the features of a checking account, while saving you money on money orders and check cashing fees.
